My neighbor makes a great living as a consultant! He's never lost a days work while he, his wife and 2 kids live comfortable. This guy is a bowler. whenever he can he's out bowling leagues or tournaments. He averages 220+.
Now this guy can talk to you about bowling balls .. knows how to drill/layout and what the ball will do when laid out different ways! Knows different ball covers .. can tell you about Rico drillings and owns quite a number of different manufacturers balls.
He doesn't make a living at bowling! He wins an occasional tournament. He is not a Pro. He doesn't attempt the tour or the Regionals. When he bowls league or tournaments he is respected as a BOWLER! He still gets BEAT! He realizes NO INCOME from bowling yet he has expenses (like all bowlers) of buying balls and entering tournaments/leagues.
What advantage does he have with all this bowling knowledge if it doesn't benefit him financially. If he operated a Pro Shop he'd have to know this to service his customers. If he was a Pro Bowler he'd need this data to WIN/WIN/WIN supporting his family. Perhaps it's to be a local HERO .. to be recognized .. perhaps it's to make his fellow bowlers look smaller them himself.
Sure I've seen baseball fanatics that can quote you statistics on every player around .. what does that get them?
Why the need to be a technician when you are someone that works on the assembly line?
What am I missing?
