Slide Sock?
« on: October 26, 2009, 03:02:36 AM »
Hey, what's your view on the Slide socks? I have an inexpensive pair of new Dexters and do not seem to get a good slide. They are universal shoes which should have told me something.
I've seen these and had to ask if they work? or wear out, or?? Thanks

Fits over your sliding shoe.  Gives a more consistant slide.  I normally use teflon inserts/pucks so I don't normally use a sock but I do carry a couple in my bag just in case I step in water or someone else needs to borrow one.  You can find more info here.

I always keep one in my bag.. but one thing you have to watch out for is to start using them too much.  You want to slide and yet come to stop right before you ball gets to your release area. Often with slide socks you can get used to sliding during your release which cuts down on your leverage you can impart to the ball.  That being said everybody should try one out.  And it's always better to slide a little too much than to dead stick as that will cause injury for sure and you'll have no chance to score.

Thanks everyone!  Sandra is very happy everyone is pleased with her products.  Some information about slide socks.  Not all slide socks are the same.  Many brands use a single layer flannel or felt bottoms that wear quickly.  Most slide socks are one size fits most.  They also are just slick.

Problems with just putting a sock over your shoe.  The fabric content makes a big difference as to slide performance.  Rayon vs. Cotton etc.  The tube sock over the shoe may slide too much or curl up under the shoe.

The SLSM Designs Bowlers Slide Sock is a totally different animal from other slide socks on the market.  Every Bowlers Slide Sock is laser precision cut and assembled in the USA with the finest materials available.  All SLSM Designs Bowlers Slide Socks are designed to be double sided and reversible.  The BSS comes in 2 main sizes is also available in custom sizes and many many colors.  SLSM Designs has made BSS products for customers from youth size 1 to mens size 20 and frequently makes products for up to size 16 mens.  All BSS products have a heavy duty construction bottoms and are machine washable/hang dry.  It is not about being slick the BSS is about being consistent.  The BSS system even works on most spotty approaches.  Our slogan "Slick, Tacky, Wood or Synthetic it does not matter your slide is correct" is the truth about the product.  The SLSM Designs Bowlers Slide Sock has been in production for nearly 10 years.  Our first customers were the editors/writers of Bowling This Month magazine and SASBA Senior Bowlers in the Southwest on a custom order basis.  We are very thankful to our customers worldwide for their support as making them happy is our best advertisement.  We are a very small company that prides itself on making the finest precision bowling slide sock on the planet!

The bowlersslidesock one is well built and will last alot longer than the master or brunswick cloth ones.  The bowlersslidesock is not as slick to me and provides a consistant slide on all approaches without being out of control slick like the master and brunswick cloth ones can be.  The master and bruswick ones will wear out at the toe.. atleast they did for me because they were pretty tight on my size 12/13 shoes.  I put a strip of electrical tape over the toe so the toe edge wouldn't wear a hole in the sock so fast.

If you are not wearing it now look at the Premier II Bowlers Slide Sock.  We designed this sock with a strip around the front of the toe.  The Premier II is the only sock specifically designed for the wide foot print shoe, SST 6/Tour Ultra etc on the market.  It's upgraded features include the raised protection strip and a hook and loop strap to give an extra secure hold and foundation. We were at a trade show held by our North American distributor and one of the wide foot print shoe companies came up to us and asked us why we had a sock made specifically for their shoe?  We told them that people asked us for it.  We designed it and patented it.    They even tried our materials to make a sole for their shoes and it does not work!  We had several customers using the Premier I and wanted the upgraded toe.  The Premier II is the answer.
