I hear about people with slow speed and a low rev rate alot, but i can never find anything on slow speed with a rev rate around 325. my speed is around 13 mph. dry lanes and short patterns kill me!!!! can someone reccomend equipment....I am a lefty that learned to bowl watching right handers. I have had success on house shots that are 41 ft +. i average around 210-215, but i would like to compete in tourneys....as of late my sport shot average is probably around 160. what layouts could compensate for my speed?? all suggestions are appreciated

While I'm a few mph faster and closer to 425 rev rate our speed to rev's issues would be simliar. I'll leave the layout part to someone else to answer because I think it is too hard to answer without watching someone and not as important as surface, RG, how u change your release.

Short sport patterns like the cheetah and beijing is easy to answer as long as their is volume. I have the best results playing the gutter going 5 board to 1 with a weak release. there is so much friction down lane that the ball hooks by itself. The only issue is not getting to the edge to early. Dry patterns due to either light volume or just burnt is always a challenge without speed or loft. Weak covers and Higher RG's are the friend of the speed challenged or your ball will continue to burn up early and roll out. I've had success slolwing down my release action to get the ball to push through the fronts or trying to loft although less successful with loft beyond a foot or so. Don't be afraid of plastic balls on the truely burned up. My son is a two handed freak and when we practice on toasted lanes I will move right with a plastic ball while he is lofting the gutter cap. Two differnet ways to do things. Getting a little more speed is something you should work on as well if possible. I moved back up to 16 lbs to cut down on the dynamic ball reaction at the lower weights and make it harder ro over rev the ball. Just a thought

I am a fellow lefty with a bit more speed but a lot more RPMs. I have some vintage urethane pieces from the 90's that are my savior. I have a purple hammer drilled axis (pin in axis), and a pink hammer drilled over label. I also got a hold of a black XXXL from lane 1 which is plastic with a core. Between those 3 balls, i can combat most conditions.

My first reactive out of the bag is a lane master's hornet. It is drilled with pin next to my ring finger and the cg kicked out probably 2 inches. It loses some energy in the oil but has enough kick on the backend to still carry.

Also, I drilled up an original mission with what was called the "do not drill" pattern. I believe it was named that way because for most people, it does not hook. Well for me and my slower speed with high revs, it goes long and then makes an excellent finish.

I would kill for a 16lb vintage pink hammer to go with my old blue hammer. Vintage Urethane is definitely an option I go to as well.

I have that same ball. It is stronger than any of my vintage 90s pieces. If you can come across an original one from then on ebay or laying around a proshop, grab it.

What balls do you have now? I would go with urethane. You are about the 3mph slower than me and i get the ball to turn the corner.

The Motiv Pearl Recon would be another possibility.We are about the same speed,but I am even more rev dominant, and this ball has been my savior on more than one occasion. It has a very urethane like reaction, but has the hitting power of a reactive.

Hello, if any of you guys still throw 16#, I have many new in the box urethanes left laying around that need to go at very reasonable prices.

Find a urethane ball with a decent weight block in it.
Either something from the early 90's or one of the newer releases.
