I have carried a book average from a 4 lane house.
NO oiling machine in this one, just a towel and a broom and a spray can.
talk about consistant! the shot totally depended on how many
the guy that ran it had from the time he left work to the time
he did the lanes. Not beer, 7&7.:d
I currentally carry an average from a 6 lane house, and a 24
lane house.

Been in 6 and 8 lane houses. What is the largest center? I've heard of 100 lane houses. 72 lanes was common for a while.

Just up the river from Winona is a 2 lane house in Fountain City, Wisconsin. It is located in the basement of a rec center. I don't think they have an oiler but I do know they still have pin boys. Not often you see pin boys any more.

I currently bowl in a 12 lane center, but I have bowled in a center that had 8 ten pin lanes and 16 candlepin lanes. My father in law told me that there are a couple of houses in Ohio that are 6 lane and 8 lane centers that I may try my hand at when I go to visit there during the summer.

The biggest house within an 80 mile radius is 12 lanes; within that radius there are 3 6-laners, 4 8-laners, and the 1 12 lane house. I know where there used to be a 2-lane, a 4-lane, and a 6-lane house that all closed about 20 years back, and I know of a private club that has 2 OLD lanes still in occasional use, and I know a couple other buildings that have 2 or 4 lanes(not in use) in them.

I bowled in an 8 lane house in Denver and later in the week bowled at this monster house owned by Walt Disney. The big house had an olympic swimming pool and diving boards sort of in the middle. Here in Dallas Bronco Bowl was the largest around including arena, archery range, driving range, billiards and game room, 72 lanes. They are going to put a Lowes or Home Depot in it's place. It's a shame a lot of history there. Braniff Airlines had a 6 or 8 lane center in their headquarters at one time.

I am bowling in an 8 lane house....BUT..we have 2 very UNIQUE houses in the area:
One has the lanes numbered backwards....on the end to the left side is lane 36, and to the opposite end on the right is #1.
The we have a six laner that has above ground ball returns....lanes 1& 2's are on the left side of lane 1. Lanes 3&4 are on the right side of lane 4, and lanes 5 & 6 are on the right side of lane 6....very weird indeed.

Wow, where do you live drillbit? 12 lanes is the big house.

I bowled in an 8 lane house a long time ago. 4 upstairs and 4 downstairs. Concrete walls and low celings. Talk anout loud! Also, very dry and very little room left of lanes 1 and 5. Left hand and right foot would smack the wall on every shot.

I bowl in a 40 lane house. I wish there was more like family run alleys that are about the bowling, and not so much the money.

AM not A CHICK OF BOWLING but I wanted to be in Manda's clique
And why would I "saw" pins in half, THATS A WASTE OF PINS! I'd rather blow it over with my storm, and 21mph ball speed on dry shots.

I bowl/work in a six lane house. It is on my school's campus though. Its really fun putting out the toughest shots you can think of then bowling on them. 47 ft of oil, 70 units anyone?

Strider, I live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, on the Keewenaw Peninsula(the bit that sticks up into Lake Superior). There are bigger houses in the U.P., but none very near to us. I think the biggest house up here is 24 lanes, and there's only 1 or 2 of those. There are a few 16-lane centers, too. The house I mainly bowl at is an older 8-laner, but it's the only house in our local association(a 6, an 8, & a 12 lane house) with automatic scoring; the other two still use plastic sheets and pencils to keep score. That's right, you have to keep score by hand, and the overhead projectors let everyone see how good you are(or aren't) at keeping score.
