I just reread 'Bones post about "are you impressed with todays bowlers". In it there were a couple of replies from people who seemed extremely irritated and upset that "this subject comes up every week, and if we don't like bowling the way it is we should go play bingo or whatever" - blah, blah, blah.
This got me thinking: at what ratio do people get annoyed with the constant bashing of honor scores and inflated averages? Is it the hacks who get all defensive about it because they are afraid the great wall may someday go away - and they know they'll never shoot 200+ on a tough condition? Or is it the truly talented bowler who tires of this rant because they are on top of their game and know it, and would rather see a discussion on how to get more people back into the game and entering tourneys than to gripe about scores?
I suspect a little of both, but at what ratio? Do you think more hacks get upset about these discussions concerning the "integrity of the scores", or do those at the upper level of their game get more annoyed?
