So how many balls do you guys bring to tournies?

How many? Normally, I bring 5. A 3 ball roller and a 2 ball tote. Today, I'm bringing 7. LOL. I dont know why, I just want to. Its a semi-sport shot, whatever the heck that is. How many balls do you bring?

It all depends on the type of tourney...anything that requires road time to get to means that everything I own that says RotoGrip on it is going in the vehicle (eight two-ball totes- and yes I know the difference in every one of them).  Many of those may never leave the vehicle, but I would much rather lug extra equipment across the country than I would get somewhere and regret having left something at the house that would be ideal for a given condition.

Local events (which I haven't shot in I don't know how long) call for whatever is in the tote I take for a house shot...few local events ever put out anything other than the THS, so there wasn't a need to carry the extra stuff.

Well the reason I'm bringing so many today is that its a shot that I have no idea what it will be like. (like I said, semi-sport shot. I know what a sport shot is, but idk what a semi-sport shot is) Plus its not really local, its like a 2-3 hour drive.

THERE ISNT JUST ONE SPORT SHOT SO YOU REALLY CANT SAY ITS A SPORT SHOT I NEED THIS BALL CAUSE THERE ARE MANY DIFFERNET SPORT SHOTS SORRY THAT BUGS ME TO NO END WHEN THEY SAY I AM BOWLING A SPORT SHOT   LIKE THEY KNOW WHICH ONE OR SURFACE OF LANE OR AMOUTN OF OIL ALL PLAYS A DIFFERENCE

Not all sport-like conditions are more oil...some are decidedly less oil.  There are short patterns, there are long patterns, and there are even sport-compliant patterns that can make the THS seem difficult.  

The key in equipment decisions is avoiding having eight balls that all basically do the same thing.  And yes, that can mean that you might be carrying something that sees the light of day for fewer than a half-dozen games in a year.  I'm not even sure if I am up to a dozen games with the Major Assault and I think I drilled it three years ago.

That's the trick.  Actually having different reactions from your equipment.  I tend to find (with myself), that after I have something for a while and haven't used it, I get the itch to throw it....  In order to throw it in leagues...surface adjustments are involved (at least for the heavy oil stuff and the light oil stuff)...next thing I know, I have 6 balls that do pretty much the same thing.  

But, I have been pretty good this year...  
I decided to come up with an arsenal system...  I have two "league balls"...one is a skid/snap on medium and the other is an arc on medium (apocalypse and khameleon) that I use on a weekly basis.  These are for leagues and tournaments with league shots.  For other tournaments, I bought 6 additional balls to cover conditions outside THS.  Two for dry, two for medium heavy, and two for heavy. As with the medium oil balls... one is a skid/snap reaction and the other is an arcing reaction.

Next year (when stronger equipment comes out) I will buy two new super oilers to replace the current two balls and push everything else down one category (heavy oil becomes medium heavy...medium heavy to medium... and sell the medium oil balls).  I would move the mediums down to light, but generally I prefer fairly aggressive layouts for medium oil and above.. and fairly weak layouts for light oil.  This will give me an "updated" arsenal... plus two "new" balls for league play.  

It seems reasonable to me as likely by next year there will be stronger equipment than this year...   And probably more oil (to keep up with the equipment) next year.  

So, for leagues and local THS tournaments, I take 2 balls (mediums).  For tournaments outside THS or if I'm not sure of the conditions, I take all of them.

Here's what I take:

Diesel particle sanded to 320 for super oiler
Command zone arc at 800
tpc player at 1000
saw blade-high gloss polish
flash point box
hit reactive-high gloss polish
spare ball

I'm going to add a wmb in there probably too so that I have an even number of balls. Currently, I just leave the diesel in the car for emergencies.

If it's a house I bowl in regularly- I bring 5 (Animal, Rule, Hot Wire, Barrage, Target Zone for spares).

In houses that I'm not familar with, I'll be bringing those plus my VP2, Panic, and Absolute Inferno when that comes in and gets drilled...

woah there dude, take a chill pill and turn the CAPS off. I said its a "semi-sport shot" and that I didn't know what to expect. Where did I say I would bring *insert ball here* ball that will work on all sport shots because they are all the same? lol. I did bad anyways. It was REALLY over/under for me, even my warp zone would either snap and go jersey, or go to the 3-6. *sigh* oh well.
