So I had 495 scratch after 2 games...

...and I finished with a real nice 636 set !

Anyone else just kinda give up after they see your gonna get smoked ?

From the beginnning of the last game it was pretty much clear what was gonna happen. The other team goes on a hot streak and our team is stuck getting tapped every other frame. Their lead-off bowler going Brooklyn for his 4 & 5 bagger sealed the deal for me!

...so I tried out my over-reacting Ultra Zone from the 5th frame on

Thank God the doubles game is the second game !

all I can say is it happens, nothing you can do about it. Been beaten like a drum many times by a less competent team, using nose up "head on collision" strikes all night while we couldn't carry a back row or corner pin in a 5 gal pail. Some nights the "bowling gods" are with you other nights they aren't, it happens !!!

try going 579 for the first two and the lanes break down for 25 minutes in the 3rd frame of the last game, and then every pocket shot from there on out leaves a 7 pin (for a righty).  the damn pin setter wasn't setting right and screwed my teammate over from have a 300-279-? and possible 800 but ended up with 797.  now don't get me wrong that is a great night, but an easy chance at his first 800 and we all get stone cold from sitting for almost half an hour.

Last time i looked bowling was a sport that you could only control what your ball does. If you were getting tapped... MOVE.
If they were getting breaks you can not control it. Bowl as good as you can and if you lose, move on to next week....

Not in your situation.  Even though I've shot several of them, I'm not good enough to view a 700 as not being worth shooting if we can't win.  Although, I've never been much of a team player - I'm mostly in it just to see how good I can do.  My view on the team aspect is to do everything I can to not be the one that cost the team a game.  Outside of that, nothing else is in my control so I don't worry about it - just do the best I can do and let the cards fall where they will.

I thought for sure I was going to get a few more nasty replies then this

It was all in good fun, as the season is almost over and positions are pretty much locked.

Heres the question I wanna know. If the other team is getting lots of breaks by going through the nose, why can't someone else try and do the same thing ?

You can call me a bagger all you want, stil won't change the fact that a 636 set is only going to "hurt" my avg 1/4 of a pin on my avg!

I wouldn't call that sandbagging. I can understand the want of trying something different when it really doesn't matter. What my question is how do you only shoot 141 if you only switched in the 5th frame? Make spares much?

a guy in my league went 279, 278, 133 for a 690.  A young kid 18-19, who lets one bad shot ruin an entire game.  he just fell apart.
