Can someone elaborate on this please.......
« on: November 11, 2003, 06:07:52 AM »
After league had finished today I began to expirement with different hand/finger positioning and ended up throwing some pretty powerful balls (for me) that had great carry. It seems as though if I remove my pinky finger from the surface of the ball while holding it (ie; just sticking it straight out instead of wrapping it up against the ball surface) I stay behind the ball better and can relax my hand more. This of course resulted in more revs and an ideal axis tilt of 45 degrees.

My question is, why did this help me to stay behind the ball better
Surely by removing the pinky finger I would be losing some support of the ball, making me prone to turn my hand early/top the ball right

I am a little confused by this, although not surprised because in the past Ron C's finger dancing tips have always done something different than what they apparently should do. I guess I'm an exception to the rules....

Doesnt tucking the pinkie do the same thing?  Bones

No, not for me at least. If I tuck my pinky I usually end up raising my track. Its when I tuck the pinky that the ball becomes unstable in my hand. I thought the same thing would happen, but instead what I statedabove was the result. That's why I'm a little confused....
