I've heard many different teachings about timing and I am wondering if timing is relative to the type of bowler.
These are what I've heard about correct timing:
At the end of the slide, the....
-Foot and ball arrive at the foul line the same time.
-Foot arrives at the foul line a split second before the ball.
-Foot arrives at the foul line, plants and the ball passes the foot a split second later.
Also, Mark Baker talks about the slide foot and the arm on the down swing being parallel to the floor. One of his "HOF" positions...but, does this work with bowlers with shorter back swings? For those back swings that end parallel to the floor and still in the power step?
I like to see these different styles of coaches/teachings and being an ex teaching assistant in another sport, it's pretty interesting. Not much is going on from the end of the approach to the foul line, but in that short of a distance, so many things are going on and/or going wrong......
