So many great new releases, is it still worthwhile to buy ‘duplicate’?

Over the years, I’ve collected many discontinued NIB duplicates (Inferno, Absolute, Vapor, Danger Zone, Red Zone etc, i.e. balls that you love so much you feel you HAVE to pick up another for the future), but with so many great new releases around, is it still worthwhile to get duplicate?

Unfortunately for me money is not no object.

What's your view?

There's no right or wrong on this one it truly is just a matter of opinion. If you find a ball that you absolutely fall in love with, it may be worth stashing one or two aside even though it's likely that a newer release can be set up to give the same or a similar look. I did that with my Black Widow Solid. I shot 804 out of the box with one, so I picked up a barely used one that I have sitting on the rack for down the road. Now, can I get a similar look with something else, probably. Still, I already know I love the Widow, so stashing one away takes away some that risk.

If I find a reaction shape I want to duplicate I will buy the same ball again to try and achieve the duplication.

Currently only a small handful of the new releases intrigue me.

If I find a particular ball that I score well with, like the reaction of and have confidence in, you can believe that I will get another one for the future....there is a reason that I went through 3 Messenger Titanium (Black and Gold) before all was said and done.

I am very seriously considering picking up another Storm Thunderstruck Solid for the future or trying a different drilling for now.  I am also going to get another Hy-Road and another Neptune.  Those 3 balls go to league with me everytime.

To me, it is worth it to have the spare.  I have had too many experiences where after one or two games, it was just plain obvious that this was not the reaction I hoped for out of this ball.  That does not mean that the ball was worthless, only that it had not filled the role that I needed it to fill in my arsenal and that I was going to have to try again.  In my situation, I would rather not waste the time or money trying to find the right ball.  Of course, I would also have to admit that if money were not an object, I would probably buy numerous new releases just to try them out.  After all, it is fun to spend money and it even stimulates the economy :-).
