Having a hard time deciding on a ball
« on: August 26, 2012, 09:10:51 AM »
I'm getting a new ball tomorrow. Having a hard time deciding on it. I originally thought IQ Tour after reading some reviews, but now I'm kinda undecided. I've read a lot about IQT being more for sport shots and I won't be bowling on them

I'm a lefty, above average speed, average rev rate at best, probably a touch lower, A game is straighter, 230 avg on house shots, much lower on anything else.

I'll be bowling on a heavy oil house shot this season, need something strong for that. Over the last few years there, I had good success with Reign of Fire, Nano, Crossroad (when they dried up some).

Trying to decide between the IQ Tour, IQ (I didn't like the Prodigy line), Nexxxus new, Maxxxed Out blue, Terror (but I've heard that the new Nexxxus and Terror are very similar balls), Green Mamba (something different, haven't thrown AMF/900 in a while)

Just wanted to get some thoughts, thanks

If you're looking for a new high end ball for heavy oil, try the Ebonite Pursuit. The ball gets good length in oil, and has good continuation for a piece of charcoal.

My house shot is on the heavy side and my bro is a lefty that sounds alot like you and he has been scoring very well with a combo of the 900 global train and a track 503t both r drilled the same pin down under bridge. Hope this helps.

If you are looking for a ball to read the midlane on a heavier oil condition, then the maxxed-out would be a good choice. With the solid coverstock and box 4000 surface, it will cut through the oil.  And, with the lower RG core, it will start up a little sooner down the lane than a versa-max which is a great compliment ball. From my experiences with the maxxed-out, I can use it for heavier oil conditions than the versa-max.

Also, the Nexxxus and Terror have similar reactions with the Terror being a little more snap than the Revenge.  And, the Nexxxus has a stronger snap downlane than the Terror. Both balls can handle the heavier oil conditions as well.
