Dropped from 15 to 14lb...now major carry issues
« on: January 12, 2010, 07:50:11 AM »
Just recently dropped from 15-14 due to shoulder problems and encountering carry issues. Just about every pocket hit is leaving a 10 pin, some 5-7's, a few 4-5's even, and the odd 8-10. Its happening with every ball I use.

About me...stroker, slowish ball speed revs around 275.Tend to get more end over end roll.
Arsenal.. Complete NV, drilled pin down 45 deg drill
C System 2.5 drilled pin up, approx 5x4 drill.
Loud Noise drilled label

Please help!

That is your problem.  End over end roll doesn't "drive" thru the pins.  It tends to deflect away from the 5 pin, which is why you leave 5-7s and 8-10s(5 takes the 8 out).

Also, when dropping weight, your ball speed goes up(typically).  This may require stronger pin placements and/or more surface on the ball.

went from 16 to 14, and no problems of carry here.  Seems to me that your entry
angle is too weak along with not enough drive at the pins.  Stronger drillings
or surface adjustments are needed.

If possible change your tilt too.  I use a 14lb equipment and the other day I had problems carrying on the winding road pattern with carry down(left a 5 10 and a 7 9 on pocket hits).  I changed my tilt and the carry problems were gone and the ball was driving hard.

How do I do that?

I basically went more inside out with the ball and this gave it it more side roll with a higher tilt and track.

I worked on this release since June 09 and I am still tweaking it.  It''s not always necessary but when it is you''ll be surprise how effective it can be.

Oh, I should add that the ball I was using was a cell.  I played up the boards and my average speed was about 16.6 at the pins per the quibert thing.

Slow the ball down a bit, you are probably getting it too far past the break point.
