I am sure the official ABC Sport Condition definition and specifications can be found somewhere on the ABC website.
From personal experience:
The only qualification that I have heard, read or been told is that the ratio across a lane of wet area to the next adjacent dry area has to be no greater than 2:1. As far as I know, there is no specification of the absolute amount or oil or its length; so, it can range from very oily or very dry.
While I have bowled/practiced on some sport conditions that seemed fairly easy, I am in an ABC sanctioned "sport league" this Summer (An ABC official must ceritfy that the oil pattern meets ABC sport league specs before EVERY league session) and every pattern each week has been VERY hard. Averages are down from a minimum of 30 pins to a high of 70 pins from our house league averages.
