Here's the difference,
Reactive resin is made for one purpose, skid in oil, hook on dry.
Particles are made to grab and start the roll in the presence of oil.
Through different surface preparations you can blur those lines. Polished particle to delay friction, sanded reactive to encourage friction. But at the end of the day, the basics have not changed.
Based on that you can now apply this to the kind of lane conditions you expect to be bowling on & what style a bowler you are. A cranker bowling with good head oil & backends can do amazing things with a solid particle, as they have the revs to bring the ball back to the pocket. Meanwhile the stroker needs that extra friction in the heads to begin his roll. That same stroker might need to switch to a reactive if the heads are burning up & he's playing the outside boards, on the other hand the cranker may switch to the particle to play the very deep over the gutter shot.
Hope this helps. BJE
