Solids vs Pearls

Is it me, or does solid reactives hook more on the backend than pearl reactives??? I always thought the pearls were suppose to be stronger on the backend than solids?

Either sanded or polished.

It seems that polished solid reactives actually have more backend than polished pearl reactives. And even with the same type of core, as far as RG and RG Diff.

Agree? Thoughts?

Solids will hook more, but pearls typically clear the heads better and save up more energy for the backend.

Polished solids could have more backend, maybe because they are more aggressive than the pearls and could possibly bite harder.

EDIT:  Typically, pearls are generalized to have more backend becuase they save up more energy and release it late down the lane.  But i suppose if you have a solid that clears the heads and saves its energy, it will be a backend monster due to the saved energy, plus the added aggressiveness.

Do you think pearls react differently than solids because of the durometer, size of the footprint, or the difference in the ability to absorb/displace conditioner?

They react differently because of the pearl additive.  Durometer and all that are based off the coverstock type, like powerkoil 18, or whatever, not because of solid/pearl.

Ric,

This is very unusual finding. Only other comment I have is be sure you are separating particle pearls and solids from resin pearls and solids. ALSO separate balls, like the Soaker solids and resins, and the Activator coverstocks, both of which are atypical in their reactions.
