Thumb pitch......................
« on: February 12, 2005, 10:38:29 AM »
I have 1/8th reverse pitch on my thumb. I'm a right hander with 16-17 mph ball speed. High track-----oil rings are next to thumb and migrate out to the left from the thumb. Average revs.
If I change my thumb pitch to 1/8th forward will this increase revs?????
Thanks in advance for all replies............

You don't use different thumb pitch just to get revs.  You do it only if you are dropping the ball, or if it's hanging or whatever.  We truthfully can't tell you how forward pitch would work out with you, over the internet.  If you aren't having problems releasing the ball, you don't need to do it.  Just cup your wrist if you really want revs, but keep in mind that not everyone is physically able to put lots of revs on the ball.

Forward will in most cases decrease the time between thumb and finger separation so it may hinder more than help your release especially if you like to squeeze the ball.  Old school was to go with as much reverse as possible in the thumb and grab at it while it was falling off your hand.

The other way was to go forward in the fingers.  I am currently at 3/8" forward in both fingers including the 1/4" added by the Contour Power Grips.

The truth is... Whether you are a cranker or a stroker, proper balance and leverage can increase hitting power no matter what your rev rate may be.
