From the latest BJI- Jeff Carter, the best bowler in Springfield, Ill., says bowling has lost it's popularity because it's no longer challenging. "I'm a world record holder, and I'm the first one to admit it got too easy," said Carter, who competes on the Denny's PBA Tour and holds the USBC record for the highest league average (261.74). Carter's remarks were carried in the June 9 edition of the Springfield State Journal Register, with Bruce Rushton reporting.
I'm all for it, after all what's the point of averaging a 220+ on an easy THS and going to a tourney and barely being able to toss a 500 series. If throwing on a sport shot all the time will make me a better bowler and make the leagues more competitive, to me that's what it's all about. Yeah, some guys will quit, and some will complain a lot, but it will be better in the long run. I know guys that can barely break a 90 in 18 holes of golf but they LOVE it and when they bowl a 160 game they HATE bowling. Go figure!
