Some One or Something Possessed Me Tonight
« on: August 10, 2008, 04:23:00 PM »
As many of you know, I have been struggling with my bowling the past 3 - 4 years.  Up until about 6 months ago I was working with a coach.  I have gotten input from a few coaches and friends, but nothing formal since Ron's clinic.

I have also been dealing with my right knee.  At the gathering some one suggested working on a more upright approach and release.  I tried it 2 weeks ago and the knee was better, the scores were better than expected, but nothing to write home about.

I bowled horribly last Sunday, 444 series with a 188 the last game using only plastic.  This week I was in San Diego for a week long AVID training and did not bowl until tonight.

Yesterday I was at Pickwick watching our local association Adult and Youth Queens and Masters tournament.  I saw all the better bowlers with a very straight, strong armswing.  Something I focused on tonight.

I had my best night in about 3 years.  I only took 4 practice shots, 2 on each lane one with the Total NV and one with the Blue Dot.  I didn't like the look of the Total NV and decided to only use the Blue Dot.  Game 1 I had 1 open (an 8 pin ) for a 224.  Game 2, again 1 open (a 3-5-6) for a 218.  Game 3, again 1 open (1 6-7-10 split) and a 217.  I have not shot 600 all summer and not shot better than a low 6 in the last year or 2.  So a 661 using nothing but the Blue Dot was very exciting for me.

While this may sound like a FIGJAM, anyone who knows me knows I do not consider myself great in any way shape or form.  I had a great night and am excited and a little bit in a state of disbelief, but very very happy.

As for the knee, it is actually looking like a knee, the swelling is almost gone, and feeling really good!

I just wanted to share, if anyone cares

That's awesome to hear!  I sure as hell can't do that with a plastic ball.  Hell, I can't even throw plastic straight.  lmao.

I think that your knee really wasn't bothering you at the Gathering, you just didn't bowl cause otherwise girl's would've taken all top 3 spots!

LOL Geez I kept it secret that you were attending and now you go an reveal my secret

PS...so I take it you'll be entering in the PBA Plastic Only Tourney...?!?

Ahhh, hmmmm, .... NO!

Thank you for all the support.

Last night was a reality check - my first night in 3 weeks on the sport shot - Cheetah 120s - 150s  BUT the knee felt good for 4 games and another game or 2 of practice on the pattern after league. Funny thing is the Blue Dot is a possibility for next week.  I was standing 10, hitting the 1st dot (3 board) and crossing 5 at the arrows hit the pocket and carried the rack on the 3 shots I played it.

I thought about using it in league and told my teammate who convinced me not to.  Now I wonder if it may not have been a bad idea.  Next week is position and then sweeps.  I may have to retire everything but the Blue Dot
