« on: April 24, 2005, 10:29:38 AM »
Can anyone tell me why Lane 1 balls are so expensive when I have heard so many bad things about them... I'm just curious, I thought about buying one but I have heard some bad things... Anyone care to elaborate?? Please..

what bad things have you heard?

They are no better or worse than any other manufacturer, as far as I have seen and heard.

What he said.

OH, and to answer your question, it's because........they can.  People are willing to pay more, so they're gonna charge more.  Not a knock on them, but that's why.

there is another reason...they are made in a brunswick factory with brunswick covers so they have to raise prices to pay brunswick for their machines, covers, and time

Lane #1 doesn't pay anymore in fees than Mo Rich does to have their balls made.  I'm really sick of the lies that Lane #1 makes about why balls cost so much more.  Fact of the matter is Lane #1 marketed their balls and made them expensive and the general bowling public buys into, and buys the balls.  Do you HONESTLY think that Brunswick would make such a better product than their own line of balls.  Lane #1 balls are good, so are Brunswick and Mo Rich...at much better prices.

Yeah exaactly, I'd take a morich ball anyday anyway, but using the brunswick factory means crap. They still shouldn't charge so much for this stuff.

I've heard that the ball tends to roll out and whatnot, just a couple of different guys talking trash, you know how that goes... One guy on my team throws one and absolutly loves it, I am just trying to justify spending the money on it...

Never having had in my possession a Lane #1 ball, I can't really say much. However, comparing my friends Cherry Bomb to balls I have, I would say that there isn't a lot of difference between the 250 dollar ball and the 125 dollar ball. Just my "2 cents."

To Rodney's point any ball company will crack around the bridge from time to time. I have seen it happen to all of the big companies. As far as the price like was said earlier cause they can charge more. Look at it like cars. You can go buy a Saturn for a low price or you can go buy a Honda for a higher price. People like Saturn and will buy that and other people like Honda and will pay that price to buy. Not a whole lot of difference.
As far as performance goes I have a couple of older Buzzsaw's. One of them I have not been able to use due to not finding enough oil around here. My Carbide C Pearl I used all the time last season. I really loved it. When the ball turned the corner you knew it. It was not a suttle move it just jumped and headed to the pocket. Hitting power I would say is about the same for me maybe was just a little harder. About the only thing that compares and it is really close would be my Inferno. Not a whole lot of difference though.
