Sometimes all you can do...
« on: August 25, 2009, 11:28:06 PM »
...is laugh.  I bowled the best 227 of my life last night.

First 4 strikes, all high flush.  Then I had the following 5th through 9th frames:
Stone 7
Stone 8
Stone 7 (I even threw it a touch faster to keep from coming up quite as high)
Strike (the 8 pin tried to stand but something slid it backwards and it slowly fell off the deck)
Stone 7 (I even moved left this frame...)

For the tenth, I moved left another board, struck, then just lost it off my hand for a very deserved flat 10.

Can't say I've ever seen a righty leave that many 7 pins in one game off high flush hits.  Oh well.  I carried all kinds of crap in another league in that house last week, this just makes up for it I guess.

That's funny.  I've had some front 4s & 5s & completely turned them into bad games myself, but not how you did it.  At least you were in or near the pocket.  I've had splits & just bad shots do me in, LoL.  227 isn't thaaaaat bad though.

I did the same thing last thursday.

first three then...
stone 7
stone 7
7-10
stone 7
then i forget how it ended
but it was a 201 thanks to the 7-10 split

still cant figure out why I was leaving so many 7's for a righty but that house does weird things on certain lanes. they always play funny on lanes 1 and 2.

The real stomach punch for me was that I did this in by far the easiest house in Kentucky, and probably the best carrying house I've ever bowled in.  I'll just blame it on the fact that all of those stone 7s were on lane #13

When the Excalibur came out with it I went first 3 7-9 (righty) anded up either striking or 7-9 rest of the game for 168. Chaned to my blue Nitro and went 268-268 with 2 stone 7's and 2 stone 8's

Must be a theme.  I think I had 7 stone 7's last night.  Three in the first six frames for game 3.

Leaving stone 7s for a righty is usually an issue of entry angle... If you're getting an extreme and late break to the pocket, 7s can get common real quick.  Going high with a very strong drive through the pocket can do it too, but that usually comes with that strong angle...

Which is why it was so surprising for me.  I have a very modest rev rate, my ball usually picks up a lot in the midlane, and I don't usually see very steep entry angles.  I just had that exact wrong look at the pocket for a few frames apparently.

Yeah, for a bowler with a lower rev rate its not common... I guess the bowling gods weren't on your side there for a while. lol

I would blame the pinsetter for the 7 pin being off spot.

It actually looked on spot, so I just chalked it up to bad luck.  I also forgot to mention I left a stone 8 in the 10th frame the game before this (then threw an awful shot that hit super light and had a scout roll across at low speed to take out the 10 ), and a couple other people left stone back row pins on that left lane the 2nd and 3rd games.
