son of a beyatch, crap, urg!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: June 15, 2004, 07:41:26 AM »
This is making me sooooooooo mad!!!!

::takes bowling equipment and throws it out the window, hits old man rivers in the head::

I start sucking major anus right after the fall leagues end!! Why? The more I try to simplify things, the worse I do. I lost all the carry I use to have, all my equipment now hits like a pillow, and i havent changed my release.

I'm hitting my target
I get the single pin spares
However, since my lack of carry, i leave splits, and washouts. That is were its hurting me because they are hard to pick up.

So, its rather I changed my release, or my equipment is now offically junk.

So i thoguht about it. I have not changed speed or release. What other answer is there? I think my crap has gone to crap. Im to poor to buy new "crap" though.

::lost::

MOST bowlers go thru a SLUMP every now and again.

Not UNCOMMON to do WORSE when changes to game are made.  USUALLY this is temporary.  The MORE you DWELL on it, the WORSE off you will be.

I DOUBT that ALL of your equipment turned to JUNK at the same time.  Look WITHIN yourself.

Are you bowling on the SAME conditions?  If LESS oil, your balls MAY be burning up and hitting WEAKER.

I bowl in several houses, with several conditions. I lost the carry that I use to have.

 I dunno why....

Oh yea, my average has dropped 30 freakin pins!!! Ahh, it burdens me!

Yet, again, had several people try to help. Nothing seems to be working.

Im thinking about changing everything!!! Basically start as if I was a n00b, and have never bowled before.

No, but they are all close freinds, that I have know for years. Were pratically like family. My dad tries to help, he only makes it worse though.

I know how you feel, I'm going through the same things myself. There could be other factors contributing to your problems:

1. Changes in temperature and humidity in the bowling center, can cause your thumb to drag out of the ball just enough to give you release problems and make the ball not hit as well. Try to take all of the tape out of your thumb hole and only put in enough to keep from dropping the ball, this worked for me tonight.

2. The climate changes can effect the lane conditions as well causing the oil pattern to play differently than it normally does.

3. Not sure about the houses you bowl at, but the one I bowl at changed to a different type of oil and they don't have the right mixture yet. The new oil carrys down unbelievably. I bowl in a sport league and they are using a 30ft flat pattern by the end of the third game the oil had carried all of the way to the pins. You might find that the management is experimenting with different oils and patterns without letting you know, there by you walk in thinking it is you and it isn't.

Not a bad idea to start over from scratch, you never know what you might learn.

Best of luck to you Jim

Coach Jim, youve came the closest.

It was very HOT in our center tonight(AC broke, so it was around 85º).

Therefore the oil will just sit on top of the lane, and wont get absorbed by the lanes.

Second of all, all the oil on your ball will sit on the surface of your ball, i tried wipping it with my towel, but its cotton, not micro fiber, so it only smeared the oil. Therefore the ball is sliding through the pocket, causing bad splits. But, everyone else actually did above average tonight, Except for me, and this one other guy, really didnt get his 230 average. But in other centers, its nice and cool, and I still lack carry. Is it my pshyical approach to the game? My release? Or my "crap"?

Without watching you bowl, or knowing what kind of conditions you are bowling on.....all I can really say is that if you leave a split or a washout you are throwing the ball poorly. When I think of carry I think getting the corners to fall a little more.......not leaving less splits. For the most part if you are leaving a split it is probably a really bad shot.

If you are bowling during open play in the summer you are probably hitting alot of carrydown and that will cause less reaction, less carry and much less impact when the ball gets to the pins.

You've got the easiest part about bowling nailed down.  You are very skilled when it comes to making excuses and whining.    (Yes, washouts and splits are hard to make.)

Just yesterday you said that Columbia 300 makes the best equipment and today all of your equipment is crap.  No amount of coaching will help because you expect the game to come easy to you without any difficulties along the way.

My advice is simple.  You are 16.  You obviously don't make a living bowling.  If you don't enjoy the game or it is too frustrating then quit.  There must be a mall somewhere that is just calling out your name.

That's because you are still using Columbia Balls. Thats why I don't use Columbia Balls.
