son of a beyatch, crap, urg!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: June 15, 2004, 07:41:26 AM »
This is making me sooooooooo mad!!!!

::takes bowling equipment and throws it out the window, hits old man rivers in the head::

I start sucking major anus right after the fall leagues end!! Why? The more I try to simplify things, the worse I do. I lost all the carry I use to have, all my equipment now hits like a pillow, and i havent changed my release.

I'm hitting my target
I get the single pin spares
However, since my lack of carry, i leave splits, and washouts. That is were its hurting me because they are hard to pick up.

So, its rather I changed my release, or my equipment is now offically junk.

So i thoguht about it. I have not changed speed or release. What other answer is there? I think my crap has gone to crap. Im to poor to buy new "crap" though.

CS the point I was making is that you have to be aware of how your environment can change and how it effects the lane conditions you bowl on and learn to adjust to them. You can't always play the same shot with the same ball with the same release and the same speed.

If you are leaving washouts one thing to look for is your position at the foul line in relation to your target. If you are closing down you shoulder angle to your target (shoulders pointing toward the gutter side of your target) you will pull the ball across your body to get it to the target. What this does is put your hand farther on the side of the ball at an earlier point and severely cuts down the leverage and amount of revs you can put on the ball. The result is usually a washout, bucket, or 2, 10 split of some variety.

Don't pay too much attention to what UG said, but people don't like to hear a bunch of complaining, but asking for help and whining are two different things.

Complaining usually stems from a lack of knowledge and frustration in certain situations where we can't seem to do anything right.

A friend of mine was so frustrated by a solid 9 that he tried to kick the floor and missed that too, he almost fell. It was the funniest thing I have seen and I have been bowling since 1978.

Hope this helps and cheers you up. Good Luck

Jim

Lots of good ideas here.  Go back to basics and start fresh.  Hire a good coach that knows what to look for.  Many people are skilled bowlers but not skilled coaches there is a difference.  Check your body and equipment.  It's now getting to be summer.  Learn lane conditions.  I practice in unusual ways just to see if I can read the lane and keep concentration.  It's hot in Texas and the air was out.  The center had the rock and bowl going in the day time.  I had them turn up the music on my end of the house.  The disco lights travel right over the arrows in weird patterns.  With the combination of things I shot less than normal but I used the situation to my advantage instead of being depressed.  I'm in a little area where I am figuring out a timing issue.  Keeping a positive attitude makes the difference.
