XXXL vs Slate Blue Gargoyle

After reading the reviews of both the Lane 1 XXXL and the Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle, I wonder if any of you have thrown both.  Guess I'm looking for more of a head-to-head comparison of the two.  Both sound like a good fit in my bag, but I only need one.  Thanks for any info you might be able to provide.

I think you mean the XXL (pearl urethane) and not the XXXL (plastic).  I haven't thrown any of them, but you might want to edit your topic so that others will give you the information that you want.

Ish - Actually, I was asking about the XXXL because I was under the impression (from reading some reviews) that the XXL was pretty strong for a true dry lane ball.  However, if there is information on the XXL that would show it is more in line with the Slate Gargoyle, I'm all ears!

OddDood - How about the carry? Does the urethane seem to carry better than the plastic, or is the core in the XXXL strong enough to get more "kick" even though the shell is polyester?

The only plastic ball I have is a Blue Dot, but I'll be getting my Slate Blue Gargoyle drilled this weekend.  I'll probably throw some on Sunday also because the lanes should be pretty toasty from Saturday cosmic.  I'll be curious to compare the SBG to my Blue Hot Flame.

I'd have to guess that Odddood was comparing to the XXL.  I can't imagine pearl urethane with a good core hooking less than any plastic ball.

Since they got rid of our really worn wood lanes, I haven't needed to throw plastic for a strike ball in some time.  I'll throw the Blue Dot some for the heck of it.

No problem Ish... If I had made a mistake with how many "X"'s to put in front of the L (easy to do) I'd have thanked you for catching it.

Anyone know for sure, is the XXL closer to the Slate Gargoyle, or is the XXXL more comparable?

Got my SBG drilled today.  Nice.  Pin over bridge, CG left of grip center about 1".  Haven't measured it, but probably around 5x6.5.  A few boards stronger than plastic, but a few boards weaker than the Blue Hot Flame.  All arc, very smooth.  Made the BHF look almost snappy.  Hit was good, but the lanes weren't really dry enough for a true test.  My regular pearl resin stuff jumped Brooklyn unless I made a big move left.  One thing it will do is give you feedback on your release.  Throw it a little flat and it if it recovers, it will hit flat.  I wanted a dry/scorched lane ball that will double as a spare ball.  Exactly what I got.
