Sore Thumb?

I've been suffering lately with the lower part of my thumb being sore. It's the part that wraps right around my slug as it comes out of the hole. Is there any way to prevent these aches, or does it just grow out the more you bowl?

1.  Bevel the edge.

2.  Re-check your thumb pitch.
