I am continuing my Junior Masters tournament this weekend. Last night I decided to head to the house where it is at and do a little practicing. How did I make out you ask? Well, I got there late, and my friends were waiting, so I had no time to even throw practice. Didn't seem to matter. I started off with the first 8 strikes. I was rolling the ball nice and smooth, had a nice line to the pocket. Throw the ball in the 9th just as perfect as the first 8. STONE 8 PIN! I was furious. I picked up the spare, then struck out in the tenth. 279 grrrr! I threw every shot just as good as any other...it was only a matter of carry....It is my new high game (previous 277) but I can't help but feel a bit robbed...Back to the continuing search for 300....

I feel your pain. I've lost count of the number of times I've bowled a sanctioned 279 or 289. Usually the non-strike is the result of hitting the pocket flush and leaving a stone 9, solid 7, or just a freakish hit that didn't carry the 10.

Last season I had 2 occasions in 5 days to get the 300. On Thursday night I had the front 10 and came in a bit soft on the 11th and left a swishy 9-10 split

. On the following Monday I had the front 9 when a 7 pin spoiled the fun.

Day before yesterday I had the front 6 when a solid 7 jumped up on a really good hit. I didn't shoot 279 because a stone 9 in the 10th killed my joy. 258 wasn't too bad, tho.

Keep shooting. You'll (we'll) get it eventually.
