span issues...
« on: March 09, 2010, 11:21:46 AM »
hi, i'm a 210 bowler just trying to make those minor adjustments to make me even more consistent. right now my issue is with my middle finger... when my hand is super relaxed (as it should be) my middle finger nail is pressing up against the back of the hole. if i squeeze my middle finger to compensate, my whole hand tenses up. i tried moving my middle finger 1/8 inch shorter but it puts a strain on my middle finger at the forearm area as i continue to bowl. right now it's at its original span with 3/8 reverse pitch on the finger and it still hits the back... any suggestions? should i go back even more on the pitch?

Without physically seeing your hand, this can be a tough one.  Your span may be fine?  Your pitch may be fine?  What happens with the 1/8 shorter and 3/8 reverse?  Don't be afraid to try more reverse pitch.  I have used as much as 1 inch reverse, with no ill effects to my game.  Was trying to get more roll and it felt awesome.  Changing the pitch is the easy thing to do, you can drop fill the hole with plug and redrill in the same place at the new pitch.  Good luck to ya!!
