Spare Ball?
« on: November 02, 2008, 11:42:38 PM »
Bowled in league last Thursday, throw my spare ball (picked it up!) sit back down, get up throw a strike, just sitting there hanging out. The first bowler on our team calls my name and is holding my spare ball http://i373.photobucket.com/albums/oo173/BAKloss/IMG00023.jpg

Basically what i am asking is who should cover the cost of replacement? Has anyone seen anything this bad?

I've never seen anything like that before or even close, did you show it to the house manager that night? If not then it could have happened anywhere so I dont know if they'll fix it for you.

Wow. Modern art! You could fill the scratches with 2C putty, it would hold well onto the ball and look kinda cool...

Reminds me of my pro shop guy's Cell Pearl - juts drilled it up, made 1 or 2 games, and then his ball was chewn up in the ball return. Not as dramatic as yours, but looks similar.

But, seriously: No idea if you can hold the proprietor responsible - but I'd at least try! Some centers block out any responsibility for customers' balls, but if they are smart and have some idea of customer service, they'd better make an offer.

a) The idiot who designed the weak sensor at the Balldoor obviously it did not "see" the Ball to stop.
b)The genius who designed the machine to count missing Pins or stop the Machine while a Pin was making love to your Bowlingball. 100% centers and mechanics fault!

it's almost always the indian and not the arrow
yes and i like this one also
don't go for a strike, go for a sure spare, we need 5 pins to win

I did show it to the counter, and the owner called me. But kind of stated it won't be replaced. It does look kind of cool, but seeing as it is a 2nd shift league and the mechanic in the back is hanging out with the bowlers could he have stopped this terrible act on my bowling ball?

Polish over it and throw it, it looks amazing.

The center should cover the cost of replacement if you showed them the ball that night. If not, good luck.

Ask the manager if the pro shop will refinish the ball for you at no cost.  It doesn't look like the scratches are very deep.  --  JohnP

prob sell it on ebay for 3500.00....just say it has something to do with Jesus.....lol. That does suck though....The establishment should provide you with a new plastic ball.

Good thing spare balls are cheap!  You could stick it on the resurfacing machine and let it just run.  Anybody else get damage like that?  What ever happened it was just spinning and probably made some noise.  I would think that someone in the back would have had to free it for it to come back otherwise it should have happened to others.

I would say be a jerk and rev it up down their lanes until they replace it(sooner or later it would tear something up? Heck I went the other day with a week old purple sumo and it pulled a heavily glued grip and broke the plug around my fingers on my xxxl as well as left rust marks on both. unfortunately it is where I bowl league and it only happeded this week but they wont fix or replace either however place where I had both done to said 15 to fix the plug work completely as well as replace grip for free.
