Pure Dishonesty...
« on: September 11, 2004, 10:16:49 AM »
Alright, today was my first day of official league, and I was alreado supposed to be on a team, as of two weeks before today (9/11/04). But then whe I get there, the team captain comes up to me and pretty much states this (but not in her own words) : Sorry, you can't be on our team becuase our teammate from last year showed up today even though we still have a space and I promised you". This made me absolutely incensed becuase today I got stuck bowling with these idiots who kept distraction and dissapearing before there frame, luckily I will not be with them next week, though my scores were rather low because of them.

What do you guys think of this?!

A couple of years ago a "Good" friend asked me early in the summer to be on his Fall team.

Had to be out of town for first week but rushed back(driving 13 hours to get there) to make 2nd week.

When I showed up he informed me that even though he knew this travel requirement weeks in advance he had replaced me with a girl that he thought could really gel the team.

I got put on a team I really didn't gel well with and I struggled most of the year.  I never had a 700 all season but the 3 times we bowled them I got to bowl her and often she had bowled real well the week before.  I liked her and never was mad at her but somehow every time I shot like 690, 690 and 660 against them and always we ended up wiping them out!  She always had a soft night.

I'm still friends with all of them but would NEVER bowl with him again but I would bowl with her as she was just a class act and it was NOT her fault!

had this happen to me.
This, to my mind, makes them low-life pond scum. I would have thought that even if I had not been in the same boat.
A team captain can change their mind whenever they want to, but human beings should explain and apologize for doing such. No apology implies they are not human. I woud hesitate in the future to sociialize with such vermin.

I agree with you on this about not blaming anyone, but in this situation it was very different. The two girls kept screeching at the top of thier lungs when the other one got a spare or something, which completely shattered my concentration and one of them kept walking into my lane, along with other things. And for some reason pocket shots kept leaving splits, I had six of them on my last game, I really could not figure out that though...

charlest has it right, people who go back on their word for the sake of convenience or opportunity are pond scum.

As on this forum, participants in the game of life can also make use of an Ignore List.  Begin adding names, starting with this team captain who screwed you.

I see by your profile you are 15, that makes the league a Junior league?  Unfortunately, in the years I worked with the Junior program I saw this happen often.  It doesn't make it right and it doesn't excuse their actions, but it happens.

Talk to your Youth Director about the current team situation.  Even though they are Juniors, they need to be made aware of proper league etiquette.

When you bowl the team that dumped you, let your bowling do the talking
