2 kinds
Thumb slug and plastic insert . Thumb slug is made of urethane and is made for u to come out of ball faster with no hang up. Insert to me is not as comfortable and can get hung up on it . If u want  a smooth feel i would try a slug

i just put slugs in all of my arsenal and just love them . i tryed a slug on one ball first and it made it easier on my release. instead of using a bunch of tape i only have to use one ,once the thumb shrinks. later down the road i might try some grip locks.

I install quite a few sleeves.  My predecesser started using them and most customers now want them, I use them myself.  Benefits inclued the ability to feel the sleeve in the ball before gluing it in to be sure the size is exactly what you want, and the knowledge that on the next ball the fit will be exactly the same if you get the same amount of bevel.  For my balls I use Magic Carpet in the back of the hole and at least one piece of white tape in front, so my thumb doesn't come in contact with much of the sleeve.  I do also install urethane slugs, it's just a matter of what the customer wants.  --  JohnP

Thanks for the replies,  I've decided to first try it bare figure I can always add them later.

What type of adhesive do you guys use for the inserts?  Anyone ever use superglue or gorilla glue?

I saw some slow cure cyanoacrylate online targeted towards gluing inserts.  Superglue is a cyanoacrylate but it cures pretty quick.

That is a good point.  I don't like vinyl sleeves because they are sticky.  Griploc and others do make urethane sleeves which may be great for the reasons you stated.    It would be like installing a thumb mold insert.
