I'm not talking about the Hada patch; I'm talking about the actual thumb shape tapes. We're all familiar with white textured tape and black smooth tape, but Vise has about 8 other tapes that are designed to do this or that, but Vise has one of the least useful Web sites I've ever visited in terms of describing these products.

The TA-2 Series Tapes just have different feels. Some are slippery, some are bumpy, some are cross-hatched, etc. The only way to find out what you like is to feel them in person. Honestly, I don't know how much more info one can provide than that given on Vise's website:

TA-2b > TA-2C > TA-2d > TA-2e > TA-2f

More Grip <<<<<<<>>>>>>> Less Grip

and...

•TA-1c is a thin Teflon tape with a very slippery property designed to eliminate sticking spots.

•TA-1d is made of thick plastic foam urethane designed to adjust the thumb hole size.

and...

•Apply the TA-1 series Tapes inside the thumb hole on the nail side of the thumb hole

•Apply the TA-2 Series Tapes in the thumb hole on the underside of the thumb

I was hoping Vise would have been more descriptive about which styles typically line up with which tapes (ex.: "crankers tend to like the TA-2B tape because it allows them to keep their thumb in the ball longer," etc.). Trial-and-error would definitely work best here but some of those tapes are pretty expensive relative to how much tape you get, and I don't want to spend money on a tape inventory I'm not going to use.

What I really would like is an alternative to the standard black tape that would promote a quicker exit without sometimes sticking, which black tape does for me. But then again, I don't need it flying off my hand in the backswing.

I use the teflon tape in the back of my thumbhole, works great, probably a bit thinner than the black tape, and lasts a bit longer.  When you come to Creekside in July, ask Carl (proshop dude) or myself about it.

Only thing, it's sometimes difficult to find someone who handles it consistantly (as far as buying it).
The Gathering 2014 is near.  July 25-27 in Winston Salem, NC @ Creekside lanes.
