So I was thinking of this after last weeks league...  I know how some people are so hell bent on only bowling on easy conditions.... even if it's the only show in town..

But if you had a company sponsor your league and add in something like 3,000$ to the prize fund, would you care if you had to bowl on a tougher condition????

I say this because I was thinking of asking my "boss" if he's be interested in sponsoring our league for next year... ( not sure if the league would go for it anyways )    But the one thing i would want is for the lane condition to be tougher...  IE one of the Kegel Challenge shots or a rotation of the Kegel Shots...

but its just a thought to all the guys who's only choice might be to bowl on the easier shots and know of guys who will only bowl on the easier shots...

YEa i know what you mean guys.....

But my idea is to bring it up during the year end Banquet, and just be like " look my boss would like to sponsor this league, add in X amount of money to the prize fund.. but the lane conditions need to change / toughen up."

I know alot of guys will complain or w/e..... but I would say " hey... do you want this money added to the prize fund or not???   He's doing you the Favor.....If not he can take his money someplace else. "

as for the pattern/s  I'd probably go with the Blue/ white patterns, or just put out a 40ft pattern that is a 5 to 1 ratio.....

We have a 22 team league (4 Person Team) with a team cap of 860.  Handicap is 85% of team's averages with 65 pin max handicap.  Pro Shop and a sponsor has kicked in and the cost is $23 per person.  1st place paid $10,000 last year.  Bowler can not drop more than 10 pins from entering average.  This is the 3rd year we've had the league and it has grown each year.  Season is divided in thirds with a wild card team making the roll-off.  They usually have about 20 brackets and run both scratch and handicap eliminators.  Half the league is averaging under 190, 1/4 between 190 - 199 and 1/4 over 200.  These same bowlers bowl in other leagues around the city and bowl.com show them all averaging about 10 to 20 pins higher in the other leagues.  Money is the reason they are in the league.

Be careful the tone you use. Don't want to present this in a way that could make your employer look bad, or make people upset enough to say "well screw him then."  I'd just say something like "I've been approached by a business that would be interested in providing some nice prize money to a premium, competitive league. If we choose to adopt (insert lane condition choices) to be rolled on for the entire season, we can get this money into our prize fund. If not, then we'll just proceed as normal." Or something along those lines. Might be best to check with the alley owner/manager and make sure they are willing and able to put out the shot if the league chooses to go with your plan. Don't want to shoot yourself in the foot if they won't comply.

We did a summer league and we used the all 12 Kegel patterns. 1st week we started with the shortest Recreation pattern, then shortest  Challenge, then shortest Sport so on thru all the 12. We also gave out prize money for High game, Series, and ave for each catagory. 80% like the format because you knew what pattern you where are bowling each week. I like to see them do a fall league bowl each pattern for 4 weeks and then start over. It was very fun and the good bowler found a way to score. Some of  the THB's who ave 225 + had a rude awakening about 5 THB's had a 170 ish ave i was about 15 pins off around 212. It made me think about each a every shot and to make all my spares. I like the change in patterns I do get bored on a THS. It is hard to Find a Fall sport league in our parts. I drive 50 miles 1 way to bowl in one in the fall. I have 10 centers 20 miles or less from my house and no one will do a sport league.  We have a bunch of big talkers, And they wonder why when they go to Nationals they suck.
