sport bowling
« on: April 10, 2005, 09:30:46 AM »
I have run across a new phenomena of bowlers: those who are pretty good average wise, but have no idea what a sport shot is! I asked a few guys that were bowling around me if they had ever bowled on a sport shot, and they looked at me dumbfounded. They thought that it was only a league for the top pinnacle bowlers to compete on! There are a few handicap sport shot leagues around here, and being new to the game/one league bowlers, they didn't understand the concept of putting down different oil patterns.

Is this something common you have seen, and if it is, could it be a reason that sport bowling is not more popular?

I've seen a lot of people who have no clue what it is as well, most think you meant the "sport of bowling" or bowling with money on the line.

Heck I've been with a teamate before who has been bowling since 5th grade that when I took him to a different house and his ball started not hooking so much not have a clue what carrydown was. O well...I guess a 190 avg does not mean much these days eh? Yeah I have seen ppl clueless of this. They just think that it is the same everywhere. All my teamates know the differences but I've seen some not have a clue, just depends on how "into" bowling you are I guess.
