Sport league-bowler in arrears
« on: November 11, 2008, 12:11:04 AM »
I know the arrears rule is determined by league and not mandatory, but my question is that if a league has an arrears rule is it a required that a warning be issued to a team/bowler if they are about to go into arrears to let them know that the bowler's scores will not count.

Thanks

most leagues wont let you get more then 2 weeks past due on your league fees

I would think a warning would be polite, but possibly not necessary.  we have this issue at league the other night and the league sec wanted to take points away, but the team in question showed where they were less then one bowler one week behind so he backed off (6 bucks is what they were telling me)

Our league is a stickler for the don't pay the night you bowl don't play or the team will forfeit.  I'm the president, but the secretary and the treasurer both enforce the rule.

Two weeks in arrears and the bowler should not be allowed to bowl until all arrears are made up and presently paid for that week.

We have a league that has all their paperwork set up in template form.  If you fall into this arrears catagory and quit or fail to pay, they immediately file a grievance.  And they get more cards pulled/suspended then any other league.  Most time over less then $50.  Once a grievance has been sent to USBC and backed up, the bowler can no longer make good locally, they now have to deal with central office only.

If the bowler is in arrears they should be aware that its not a joke in some leagues.  Their card can and will be pulled.

Most times secretary/treasurers make it up out of the prize fund becuase even though its their job to make sure the bowlers pay or don't bowl, they do not want to be ultimately financially responsible.  Bowlers do not know how many times this happens in their league but it happens a lot.
