I've been to my SUMMER SPORTS league one session. It was my first try at it.

I watched as people warmed up on the lanes. It seems the KRANKERS were having problems .. they were throwing a line that was putting them in the GUTTER about 1/2 way down the lane. Some big HOOKERS were throwing up (about 5) and hitting the opposite side of the pins. Very few of the (8) bowlers on my pair hit the pocket in PRACTICE!

I had THE THING and the SILVER STREAK PARTICLE with me. Watching the others warm up I was worried over where to throw the ball. My comfort is somewhere up 5 with the ball breaking in. I tried to start at 15 and hit 5 with some success. Stayed there for a while but wasn't comfortable.

Somewhere in the second game I went to my comfort zone and I was happy with the results!

I didn't bowl my non-sport league average but I was happy with my first TRY! I thought both balls rolled good and it was a matter of adjusting. I hope you can compare the balls that I used and have some idea which of your arsenal to take! I can't wait to get back to the shot this week!

This is from my experience on a 'close to' but not legal sport shot.  A sport shot means that you will not have the area you normally have in leagues.  How much hook you get depends on how long of a pattern is laid out.  It can be almost any length so your hook depends on you, the length of the pattern, and your equipment and the condition of the backends.

Generally, the best way to play is as tight as you can.   Because of the oil ratios, errant shots will not recover as much.  Bring the plastic ball, the Heat and any two of the others for starters.

From what I saw last season, most of the crankers were either on or they were way off.  Not much in-between for them.  (The house rotated between four 'sport' patterns - 'sport' because the lane machine could not quite put out the correct ratios, so they were not legal).   The strokers were most consistant.  The down and inners also had their ups and downs depending on the pattern.

Get yourself a white dot and sand it. 220 grit works great for me.  Point it up to the pocket. Im averaging around 190+  on a sport condtion doing this.I usually stand around 10-12 and move my eyes in on the lane say around 15-16 board ABOUT 40-45 FT down the lane at the breakpoint.  Let me tell ya, you will open some eyes doing this while your whacking the pocket and making simple spares. The guys with the 200$ ball will be shooting 140-150, while your shooting 190-200 games with plastic. One thing i found out is if i tug the shot i will hold line better due to non aggressiveness of the ball . Give it a shot might work great for you also. If not i would bring the tour power and the soccer ball.

Jabroni go ahead and rely on technology.  Ive bowled on Patterns a-e and they play far easier than sport.  On the sport conditon i bowl my white dot gives me the best look. Thats why I suggested it .  Good bowler uses what works best for him.

146 Average for first 4 games. It was great. I really enjoyed bowling, i shot a 226 one of the games which was good. We are bowling 14 weeks, 4 differnt patterns 3 weeks each, and 2 random ones. Im actually happy about the 146 average. Its run at the center where Buddies Pro Shop is. I had fun, and cant wait until next week. It made a house shot look like cake.
