I was bowling with my 18 year old cousin a couple of months ago.  She had not bowled in a year, but was willing to give her best effort.  After the first game, I looked up at the score and she had bowled a 23.  We both laughed then  bowled a second game.

That's bad, but my daughter shot a 300 in the dutchman, scratch for 3 games!!
She's a 16* ave. like me. Boy was she bummed. I asked the person collecting scores if that earned anything.

Sounds like the original post was about an occasional bowler having an awful game, not getting concerned about the score, and moving on.  I have no idea what most of the other posts are talking about.  

I got a new ball drilled several years ago.  My wife tagged along and asked if she could throw a game.  She only bowled a few times in her life and hadn't bowled in 10+ years.  She made me promise not to laugh.  I didn't care about her score and she was going to help pace me.  Anyway, her first ball went right down the middle for an 8.  She missed the spare, but who cares.  She then threw 16 consecutive gutters!  Almost all in the left channel.  She was throwing across her body big time.  I kept daring her to at least throw one in the right gutter (which she finally did about the 7th frame).  I eventually joked with her that if she didn't break double digits, she would have to walk home.  She finally got a 9- in the 10th for a big 17.  She didn't bowl again for a long time.

Hmmm I have a sanctioned 96... Thats soooooooo bad... no strikes, 8 slits... And opens... (I had a blister )
