Title: spy gate
Post by: xrayjay on January 06, 2017, 04:16:00 PM
When I do bowl well, you'll find me taking notes on a sheet of paper. It's something I do a lot these days as part of my routine. Also, I have short term memory and ADD. I take note of pins I left and why I left it. And also, where my feet and targets are. I just can't remember and my teams can't help me out lol

Anyway, i bowled on a mens scratch league years ago and my opponent was struggling. I caught him looking at my notes and he did well in the last game to beat me.

I think it happened again recently. I may have caught my opponent doing this. I purposely write messy and confusing stuff just for this reason. I didn't mind if he took a peak for he wouldn't understand it, but the fact that he may have peaked at my notes is a head scratcher.....  ;D :o 8 ::) :P

Desperation knows no boundaries? Good thing your notes are encrypted. ;)

a happy face :D is something I wrote down underneath my note. in case he read it.

taking notes allows me to "turn it off" - my ever forgetful and distracting/busy mind ... I've had teammates remind me to do so.

Maybe it's time to learn Gregg shorthand, like the old time secretary's who took dictation.

John Robert Gregg  / -~ lol that's not a bad idea, but too difficult to remember. I made up my own...

I use fraction equations  - having to do 7th grade homework check gave me the idea.

10/17 - 10. Meaning I stood on 17, target at 10 at the spot, and resulted in a flat 10 pin.

for deflection I use a divide symbol                10/17 √8

it maybe stupid for many :D but this really helps me stay focus without thinking too damn much.

You should right a note to the guy staring at your notes.

Next time, put on your notes: "If you are starting at my notes to try to figure out your problem, then your mental game sucks! Get on the lanes and practice, and leave my notes alone!"

Or something similar. add vitriol to suit/taste. ;)

This game does have a lot of shady ppl in it.

From guys who talk a lot of mind games to their opponent to league officers who steal league money.

I've had guys peak at my notes, but they are just curious.  I really don't mind cause I'm sitting right in front of them. I was on the approach or stood elsewhere when I caught these peeping toms. lol

If I drew a flipping bird, or a messed up message, that would be hilarious!!!!

You could write any of the following depending on mood:

If you can read this, you shouldn't be. They're not your notes.

I give lessons, $100/hr.

Would you like me to write bigger?

Or if you wanna be mean...

Damn, I remember sleeping with his wife years ago.

On the serious side.

I put my notes into my phone. The phone is usually locked so no prying eyes.

I just had to do this back in December. Finally found a line for a league I started bowling in. Then we were going on the holiday break, it is every other Saturday so I haven't bowled there since Dec 10. I did t want to forget where I was playing.

Instead of leaving them next to your fanny pack put them in your pocket.

Hey, no fanny pack hate here! Not allowed!

Yeah, I'd throw notes in a tablet. Bluetooth keyboard and that way I don't have to decipher my own handwriting.

Fanny packs are stylish along with cardigan sweaters, pleated khaki shorts, white tube socks, and Birkenstocks... chick magnet for sure!! Thunderstruck playing when entering the building with two single bag rollers!!!

Why look at what you are writing and not watch you on the actual lane?

Seems that would be much easier…. Especially if you're writing down that you are throwing 3rd arrow out to 7 but when you are on the lane and not hitting either. (Hypothetically)

I don't understand what you're trying to say. May you explain it much clearly?

Anyway, my method works for me. Likewise, it helps me stay ahead of the pattern beside remember where my feet/spots are. Especially when each lane plays differently in this second shift league. if I was shooting below 630 I'd ditch this method.

I'm pretty sure if someone said, "my target 40 feet down lane is the 7th board" they'll most likely be 40% accurate. A certain HOF introduced me to the nickel test, and since then, I don't try to splice boards  - it's THS pattern I bowl on lol. I just make it "easier" for myself to be taking notes, so bowling can be fun.
