Title: SR. PBA REGIONAL
Post by: TECH SUPPORT on April 30, 2003, 10:30:27 PM
This weekend we had a sr regional and had a grand total of 18 entrys.Afriend of mine bowled in it and was asking me about some rules that was inforced twoards him.He wears a wrist support that is a cobra model as some of you know cobra is not listed as approved for pba competition so he was not allowed to wear it.After finding this out he requested his money back and was told no.I know some of it was his fault but the pba wonders why they lack entrys. He asked me if it was fair and I told him yes and no it clearly says in the entry form no none liscened or approved equip- or clothing to be worn or used.He should of read it clearly.

If it didn't keep shooting itself in the foot, it wouldn't be Bowling. (Capital letter used advisedly.)

Not thinking about it when I bowled the US Open, they told us we couldn't use the Cobras.  I use the Dragon.  Too nervous about bowling, I foprgot my Dragon was a Cobra and used it in the US Open.  I'm glad I didn't get fined but nobody said anything.  If they did I would have used my backup, the Robbies' REVs.

A few years ago in a ladies regional, (in a different region), the director made a bowler cover the logo with tape.
In our region, the equipment rules are rarely enforced.

That's INSANE.  They're not trying to represent anything, they're just trying to help their bowling out!  Dockers are popular, they're easy to find, and they fit, how is this illegal?

What about the adverts bowlers wears. Do they have to pay for approval too?

bailki, ifmyou are talking about the Days Inn, etc patches, theey are indeed paid sponsors of the PBA.  That's why you see those patches.  The only logos, etc allowed are those of registered companies and sponsors.  As far as the Cobra and other wries supports, etc.  It is the responsibilty of the bowler, whether a member or not, to be aware of who the registered companies are.  Earliee\r this year, I had to bowl without my Master Wrist Support, because I had forgotten that Master is no longer a register company.  Until last year (I think) NO logos on pants were allowed, now, as long as they are not really noticible, they are OK.  It can be a hassle, but that's the way it is, if you want to enter a PBA event, make sure you know the rules.
