SSTs or Dynaroos?

My SST 6s are finaly starting to show their age, so I need to begin looking into a new pair of shoes. I've really, really liked my SSTs, but I also have heard a lot of positive feedback about Dynaroos. What do you all think? What are the pros and cons of one versus the other? Money isn't the object; I'm talking about comfort, durability, looks, and options (heel-sole) on the lanes. For the sake of comparison, I'm really only looking between the SST 7s and Tour Ultras. Also, with many companies releasing new stuff around the time of bowlexpo and all, would I be best to wait and see if something new is coming down the pipeline? Let me know your thoughts.

I just got a pair of TUs and I really like them.  They are very comfortable.  They replaced my cheap Dexter Jason (?), so I can't compare them to the SSTs.  The Dynorooz have the cleat sole, giving some fine-grained customization that I don't think the Dexters have, as well as the Adjust-a-heel, which allows you to put small inserts in your heel to control slide further.  Again, I don't think Dexter has that option.

Well it doesn't sound like there are gunna be any new releases from Dynorooz or Dexter for this coming bowl expo...  I personally am using the Dyorooz right now, and am seriously impressed.  Being hard on shoes as i am, Ive had a few pairs.  Ive had this current pair for about 5 months now, and am still in love with them.  I as well had the SST'6's and the Linds Exxtra's .  I personally recommend the Dynorooz Ultra's... They come with many different slide soles as the SST6's and 7's, but they also come with the puck sole so you can tweak your slide even more.  The one draw back i had with my ultras was finding a comfortable heel.  But that was easily eliviated with the purchase of the adjust a heel.  Thus making for the most versatile/ comfortable shoe i have ever worn.  Now for durability, i haven't had a single problem as of yet... In the past i have worn threw shoes quickly, and my push off toe is usually the first to go.  Yes i know the dynorooz have the big toe bumper but even after 5 months of constant wear and tear, the toe cap hardly has any noticable wear.  And even better yet, that toe cap is easily replaceable.  So just my honest opinion right now there are no better shoes on the market then the Dynorooz Tour ultras.

I would stick with dexter i bought the tour ultra's last month nothing special about them to me for the price, the sst6's are cheaper online and just as good. The tour ultra the slide foot is slightly higher than the non slide foot a strange feeling the first 10 games or so. Of course this is just my opinion but the tour ultra's are good but nothing great either.

I've posted this before a few times....

Note...I'm the only one I've seen say this, think this or post this.
I could be being sort of a nudge.

Given the below one of our local bowlers got another pair of SST6s and coupled em up with some new triheels and with this new for him setup he went on to nail a bunch of 780s 300s and one 800!

He looked so poised and balanced in this center where I cannot get this position!
I didn't with my SST5s either!  But I don't remember all my current problems.
Note I don't have the high level Dynorooz and I do nail my approach nearly everywhere else!  

Here is my previous post.

I purchased a cheap pair called tour deluxe black. 2 interchangeable heels and two interchangeable heels(I've purchased others too)!

Everyone loves the way they look...me too! I love the way they fit!

I bowl at a center with very slippery sticky synthetic approaches(very touch).

When I go to centers with the new synthetic(textured) approaches or wood I find I absolutely nail my finish position!! However at my home center with my new Dynorooz I'm always a little wobbly.

My theory is the outside border(of the soles on dynorooz) and the stiching in that border is always there and too slippery.  Even when one puts a stiffer sole inside this border...the border and stitching are there and can seem to initially skid out on me until the sole insert takes over.  I am about to purchase a pair of the SST 6s as I don't remember having this problem as much on Dexter...(no front sole border)

However the problem I had with Dexter was tear up of the toe area of the trailing foot(I drag it!) and I also had problems with their rubber heals sticking on my SST 5s as a result of sharp edges on the rubber heels!

I like the more rounded front edge of the Dynoorooz heels! I have noticed there are new heels available for the SST6 (tri heel which have a more blended heel shape) and I notice many bowlers really tearing it up with these heels on our sticky slippery synthetics!

I intend to continue using my Dynorooz shoes everywhere I go that I know I have no problem with this little complaint I have(just one center) and use my new Dexter only there!

Add me to the Tour Ultras list.  Everything that has been said about the comfort and durability is true.  I do want to point out the one and only problem I had with mine, and that was "breaking in" the heel to where I could get a consistent slide.  It took me several games before there was enough wear-down of the heel that I wouldn't stick and dump myself on the lanes.  I had to be overly careful for longer than I would have liked.

This was the case with every heel I tried.  That being said, if I had tried the adjust-a-heel, I doubt seriously if I would ever have had any issue.  I remember hearing about similar experience from others on this board, but if it is an issue, the adjust-a-heel will solve the problem.  Overall a fantastic product.

Well I'm gonna have to cut my toes off so I can fit into the Dynaroos. Until then, I'll deal with Dexters (have a pair of SST5 Comforts now which are quite nice)

I have had a few pairs of Dexters and Linds over the years and I must say teh new etonics are sweet.

fit well for wide feet people.
plant foot traction is unbelievable.
slide foot is sweet.

they are better than any other shoe I have had. If they last half as long as my etonic golf shoes they will be worth every penny.

I had seen some that were great...but not adjustable!

If you have wider feet go with the SSTs. If your tough on shoes especially in the toe area go with the Dyno's. If you like light weight shoes definitely go with the Dyno's. If you like a bit of support go with the SST's. Have had them all and keep both a pair of Tour Ultra's and SST6's for tournaments. I find the ABS's better for tacky approaches. Haven't tried the newer Etonic's but if they slide well they are of quality as far as craftsmanship. Also they are made in the US which the rest cannot say anymore.

I had the same dilemma not too long ago.  I went with the Sport Ultras and have no problems.  The most comfortable bowling shoe I've ever had.  I have wide feet and I have no problems with the shoe.  A great shoe, I'll be hard pressed not to purchase Dynorooz in the future.

Hey everyone, thanks for the input thus far. I have another question: How do the two compare in terms of width? I'm not speaking for wide feet; I'm talking about for balance and stability. The SST 6s are really wide by nature, and they are offset to promote balance and to prevent the slide foot from spinning out. Are the Dynaroos as wide? I've found I really like the width of my 6s; I know the 7s will be similar. How do the Dynaroos compare? Any thoughts?

Width feeling i believe is more of a function related to Dex's box type design. The beveled base i believe is like 1/4" wider than older SST4&5 design. I had no problem with stability with the Dyno's just they felt a bit weird as they were so light and flexible. If you get the Dyno's the adjust-a-heel is the way to go.

I'll just add one more factor for you to consider:  If you plan on bowling any more PBA regional events, you should stay away from ABS/Dynorooz.  They are not currently registered with the PBA.
