SSTs or Dynaroos?
« on: May 31, 2006, 02:48:40 AM »
My SST 6s are finaly starting to show their age, so I need to begin looking into a new pair of shoes. I've really, really liked my SSTs, but I also have heard a lot of positive feedback about Dynaroos. What do you all think? What are the pros and cons of one versus the other? Money isn't the object; I'm talking about comfort, durability, looks, and options (heel-sole) on the lanes. For the sake of comparison, I'm really only looking between the SST 7s and Tour Ultras. Also, with many companies releasing new stuff around the time of bowlexpo and all, would I be best to wait and see if something new is coming down the pipeline? Let me know your thoughts.

Rick,  Unlesss I'm mistaken, Dynarooz are ok for regionals.  Dynothane is registered to include accessories, which, I think include shoes.  Since the Dynarooz are mareted as a Dynothane product, with the D/T logo on them, I think they are OK.

There was an announcement at the last regional I enterdc a couple of months ago that specifically called out ABS as being not allowed, but that the Dynarooz were OK to wear.  Since mine say ABS, I had to use my old Dexters SST5s.  I do remember seing something in a PBA newletter about that, but I'll have look when I get home this evening.

Colin,
You're probably right - I have ABS Tour Ultras, and I was told by a PBA player that if I were to bowl a regional, I would have to put tape over the "A" and the "ABS" on my shoes.  I guess they are not being too tough on the guests who happen to have those shoes.  I just assumed that the restriction also applied to Dynorooz.

When I went to the PBA website, I saw that DynoThane was registered for balls, accessories, and apparel, but I was unclear as to what that included.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I might be wrong here, but I thought I read somewhere that the Dynorooze Tour Ultras were aproved by the PBA, it was the ones in the past that had ABS on them still that were not.  In the past the shoes were lettered ABS.. I believe not it just has DYNOROOZ on them.  Please correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure the new Tour Ultras are good to go.

Thanks for the tips guys and gals. I'm pretty sure that Dynaroos are fine for PBA. It is only the ones that say ABS that need to be blacked out. I saw some people run into that issue at the PTQ I bowled in Hammond.

I just talked with Billy Yinger at Dynothane, and yes they are approved for PBA use.  ABS in the past did not keep up with the PBA sanctions, so they were not allowed for PBA use.  The only shoes you have to worry about are the Older models that have ABS still embroidered into the shoe.

Hope that helps,

I'm now a bigger Dynorooz fan than before.  You might remember that I was having some issues sliding.  Well I got the red (leather) heel and the felt sole and that ended the problem.  They feel great, lightweight, and now that I can slide I expect to use them for quite a while.
