Sounds like some of those specialty Vise tapes. I've tried them and found it too easy to get the feel right, thus I hang up in the ball too often. The one thing Vise makes that I love is a Teflon thumb tape -- if you like tight thumb holes, you can sling a piece of that Teflon stuff in on top of the tape and I don't care how tight you get it, that thing is coming off at the downswing.

The tape goes to the thumb pad side. I never cold use white tape on the front/pad side of my thumb.
I'm giving this a try.
