Starting up lefty, pt 2 - Equipment
« on: December 31, 2013, 11:19:15 AM »
My first lefty ball was a Raw Hammer Toxic, then it cracked and I used a Rogue Cell exclusively (which I failed to mention in the other post), which is what I had the best success with.  I'd estimate my typical lefty speed at 16.5, rev rate 275-300, and as most lefties do, straight down 7 or 8.  About a 45 degree angle of rotation, with appx 10 degrees of tilt.  Typically, my reaction is hook/set, though the better I got, my rev rate increased slightly and gave me more drive through the pocket.  I'm drilling a Primal Rage first, and I do have an old Galaxie 300 that I plan on using for spares, even though I hate using plastic for spares, for some reason I feel like they're a crutch.  I have a pair of fairly new SST 5 SE's, though after this season I'll most likely just trade soles on my SST 8s and use those.

The question is for other lefties with maybe similar stats, what kind of layout do you normally go with if you're after a benchmark type reaction?  Surfaces?  You don't have to really play for transition, what kind of strategies do you use or work with since you're basically all by yourself over there?  I've got a good idea, but more experience never hurts.  I'm also mulling over the idea of bowling the Greater Ozark Open and Open Championships lefthanded as well, I'm past frustrated with my right hand and would rather not put up with it anymore, but I'm not sure if that's too big of a jump too soon.  I would also need at least one or two more balls, and I'm not sure if I want to dump that much money into it all at the same time.  Opinions?
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?
