National's team
« on: April 08, 2009, 03:36:07 AM »
How many of you guys are on a team that work together to break the shot down like Riggs team did at nationals?
To be honest, i'm just a bowler that really knew nothing about PAP, different surfaces, breaking down a lane...
Just recently I have started becoming more interested.
I'd like to get on a team with bowlers who have similar bowling styles and play about the same lines. I would also like to bowl in a league that laid down the national shot all winter.

No one bowls on a team that works together?
Wouldn't it be great to bowl National's next year in Reno and have your name up in lights?  Instead of coming in, shooting your 1500, 1600, 1700 or maybe breaking 1800, go in and shoot 2000, 2100!

Sport shot leagues are great.  Unfortunately they only have them in the summer, then you go back to the wall of china and revert back to "area" bowling. Plus sport shot is not the National's shot.  From what I have seen and heard, nationals shot is pretty similar every year.

Give people time to reply---some of us have jobs LOL

I bowl on a team that does work together early, but because mine a couple others strategy is so far removed from the rest of the team, its tough for us to continue working together. I ALWAYS!!!! end up 5-15 boards deeper than anyone in our group. Its just the way it is. I can play on those conditions, but sometimes I dont have the assistance in breaking down the middle appropiately.

The teams that win work together.  Fox Bowl 2 (The team that won all events championship last year I believe) broke down the lanes in their favor during team event.  The three straighter guys threw 500 abalaon super hookers to the right to burn a spot in practice.  The two guys that hook it more threw plastic at a variety of angles to the left in practice.  This blended the lane out perfectly.  It was basically a house shot without the over/under.  One of the guys on the team told me he only got one 'Real' shot to line up with.

This year they said they probably won't throw as much plastic in practice because there are more loads in the fronts and middle this year.

It is always a hard thing to do, especially if you have a limited number of bowlers to work with.  Going with 6 teams this year, we have a little more flexibilty than usual.  This has allowed us to put the 10 bowlers with the most open minds and skill level together on the same pair.  The hardest thing is to convince bowlers that working together will benefit all.  There are many who will not or cannot work together.  To them, the concept of working together does not work.  We have a session appointment with Jas, it will be interesting to see how many of the 30 show up.
