Got whupped by an 11 year old...
« on: November 09, 2009, 08:46:58 PM »
...in my Sunday night PBA league bowling on the Scorpion pattern.  Little dude has got some serious revs and was throwing a brand new 14 lb. Python.  We took the first game but this kid had solid scores the second and third games and was the difference maker for his team.  On the last game his teammates were struggling badly and this kid steps up and throws the last 7 strikes hooking the entire lane to secure the win.

I talked to his dad and he said the kid lacks focus at times.  I said, "He''s only 11, for goodness sakes...he is supposed to lack focus at times."  I wonder how good he''s going to be at 15?

He probably wont even be bowling when he is 15.  He will either get bored or just POed at dad and want to quit.

Yeah, if his father is riding him that hard about losing focus at age 11, its just gonna get worse.

I hope it doesn't, cause he sounds like he has a lot of talent...but some parents just don't know how to leave well enough alone.

We have so few people interested in PBA Leagues that we had to combine the youth bowlers with the adults just to get enough teams.  We ended up with a whopping 6 teams and three of the teams are short-handed.  It's not sanctioned, of course.

A two finger bowler talking trash that doesnt know a basic rule that states a minor can bowl when no prize money is involved...what a moron.

Im going on a limb and saying Zanatos would average about 178 in a pba league.  robably only bowls on house shots and never plays right of 20.

If you dont want it taken the wrong way dont type it.  LOL could be taken as saying it in a condescending way...like "wow you're stupid...LOL".

Lefty, there's a 12 yr old in my area thats like this too. He is big for his age, probably close to 5'9"-5'10" tall and has a hand like Shaq lol. Kid has a ton of revs, he has only been bowling about 2 years and already averages low 200's. The cool thing is his Dad does'nt put any pressure at all on him to bowl, with his height his Dad actually thought he would play basketball but the kid keeps coming back to bowling. If the kid keeps his nose clean and continues to learn at his current pace he could at the very least bowl collegiately. The BEST part about him is that he doesnt have the big head, he is very humble when you talk to him or compliment him on his game, thats few and far between these days with kids.

I dunno what you think, but a a 180 avg on PBA stuff isn't that bad lol.  I guess for guys who have more talent than us guys its pretty low, but I'm proud of my 179 and 181 avgs on the PBAx leagues.

Elitest much?

That's amazing how good this kid is.  I hope he continues with bowling, grows to love it, and becomes one of the greats.  It's wonderful to hear such wonderful stories about the kids getting into very difficult bowling so young.  I remember when I was doing juniors about 10 years ago, the hardest patterns I ever saw was a reverse block.  Other than that, everything was THS or modified THS.
