Best ball cleaner?
« on: February 19, 2016, 02:13:46 PM »
I'm sure this has been asked a bunch of times but I can't seem to find much on it  wondering what the best bowling ball cleaner is in everyone's opinion? I throw storm and roto grip if that matters. I've read that lmb cleaner is very good but want some opinions on all the options. I don't have a spinner or anything like this. Just will apply it and wipe it off.

It looks like that LMB is on sale at Buddies.

https://www.buddiesproshop.com/shop/lmb-international-professional-ball-cleaner-quart-4933/

This is NOT the one I have been talking about. This is yellow-ish and is water based.
The one I like which is called Extreme is blue tinted and is alcohol based. It is no longer offered at Buddies because the company has ceased production.

Genesis Evolution Maxx,
https://www.buddiesproshop.com/shop/genesis-evolution-maxx-bowling-ball-cleaner-4-oz-6001/
is supposed to be the same formula, but it smells pretty bad. It does clean well.
It is not for use DURING bowling; only before or after.

At this point I Prefer Neo-Tac's Hook-It, but you still must be careful using it.

Their "plain" cleaner is a very good one for after bowling cleaning, but it doesn't compare to LMB Extreme or Hook-It. It's on a par with Remedy, Knockout and Zapp-It. These are among the best of the water based cleaners, acceptable for use during bowling. LMB Extreme was/is also acceptable for use during bowling.

Hook-It and Clean n Dull are only for use AFTER/BEFORE bowling.

Genesis Evolution Maxx is a very good cleaner, but like Jeff said, be careful with it. The smell is so strong that I used Maxx outside on the backyard table. Also, wear protective gloves.

Ok, thanks for the info.

I have been using Clean and Dull for years, and I will continue to use it because it works.

I have had really good results with Storm's Reacta Foam. It cleans the ball and restores the tacky feeling, while easily removing belt marks and scuffs.

But using it at the lanes after bowling, when a cleaner should be used, is problematic, because it needs gloves for safety and it needs damp paper towels to remove the residue. How do you do all that at  the lanes?

Currently I am using the Vise Clean & Tacky ball cleaner with good results.  It's strong enough to do the job, but not toxic enough that I feel the need for gloves.

Lane,

I have Vise cleaner. It doesn't say "Clean and Tacky".
I searched for "Vise Clean and Tacky" and nothing showed up.
Vise's own web site does not show it.
Can you point me to a reference web page or where you bought it online?
I'm curious about it.
Thanks,
Jeff

I went to the Vise website, and it looks like it's their existing cleaner with additional labeling up in the corner.

It's just on the label and may not be the name.  I included it just to be extra specific for clarification and it did the opposite..  Sorry for the confusion.

I use bb.com Monster Tac after each session and it seems to work well. Just spray on ball and wipe with a microfiber towl.
