Sticking
« on: December 14, 2009, 02:11:14 PM »
I have a friend who is having a problem sticking. He is fine 99% of the time. Then all of a sudden he starts sticking with his heel. To the point where he cant even bowl. This guy is a very good bowler with good timing and foot work. We cannot figure out why he sticks all of a sudden some nights. Any one else have a problem like this?

This type of problem has happened to me on a few occasions.  It wasn't THAT bad, but it wasn't very fun to deal with either.  I know why I personally had this problem, and that's because I walked on the carpet in the bowling center.  For whatever reason, that increases friction with my heel.  I think after a certain amount of time, dust builds on the heel and makes it easy to slide, then when the dust is wiped off it becomes tacky again.  I have to walk with my toe on my slide foot if I go up the stairs.

Some times newer carpets put static on shoes. Suggest to your friend as part of his pre shot routine to wipe the heal with his hand before he gets on the approach. Hopefully it is just something simple like that.
