Sticky Approaches
« on: January 24, 2009, 06:53:56 AM »
Well, heres the story, I bowled a tournament this afternoon and started out pretty well, went 224 first game out(3 game qualifier).  After the first game we move lanes to another pair and I start out with a double and then one of the other guys on my pair sticks and falls, instantly one the bowling alley employees is down there with his spray and a rag trying to make things better.  I appreciate the attention to the incident but I had no problem with the approaches.  Now the next four frames I stick like crazy and go through the nose for a greek church, 3-10 split, 4-9 split, and a 6-10.  At this point I am not happy, my game is shot with 3 opens in a row.  I finish the game out with a couple strikes and couple spares for 175.  The last game we move again and no problems, I shoot 246 but I am not going to qualify for the semi-finals in my part just because of the approaches.  Now here is my question, do I have a right to complain or take any action or am I just screwed??

I would say you're screwed, especially since you didn't say anything to the workers after the first time you stuck.  It may be seen as an excuse at this point.

last night I was already bowling a bad game before someone with wet feet decided to walk in our area. I had no idea the floor was wet so I didn't bother checking my feet. We're in the tenth frame i'm working off a double for a max of 215 if I strike out. I go through my motions and as I start to slide my shoe skipped and I hopped in the gutter and left a 7-10 split to boot. talk about being pissed or getting screwed. I ended up with 184. Still battling the approaches I bowl a 170 the last game.

I beleive it has to be agreed on by all bowlers or the teams.  But have only seen this in league.  not sure what the rule is for tournments

been there to

did the guy that fell even check his shoe, or take  a test slide after fall
if other bowlers are ok, then  it was him.

same to me at a tourney I was fine a guy keep complaining sticky
I look at his shoes there cheap with almost look like plastic comes
down in front off toes on sliding shoe  I ask him you have a pair
of adjustable soles he said what's that,  I'm gone.
he just bowled bad and said not coming back he was used to wood not fake.
