Storing bowling balls for future use....

What is the best way to storm NIB bowling balls for an extended period of time (3+ years) or so?

I figure it would be a good idea to keep them at 70 degrees or so, out of direct sunlight. Try to keep them away from temp. fluctuation.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Just put them in the closet at your house and they will be fine. Just don't store them in the garage..

I "storm" my balls outside, so when there're thunder storms I can charge them up with lightning strikes for future use ...

All seriousness aside (),
Keep them in a place where the temperature AND humidity do not change much. (Of course don't keep them in 120 degree nor in 30 degree temperatures.) It's large changes in both that affect almost everything from wine to bowling balls. I keep them in my basement, but not in my wine cellar! The dehumidifier runs during the Summer to keep the humidity constant. For 4 years now, I've never had a ball crack or anything else happen to it.

I would also suggest keeping them off the ground in a room with air circulation.

Last year I checked on a few balls that I had stored in a closet.

I had a Storm Trauma ER, undrilled that split in half, sitting in the closet on a ball cup.

I do rotate my balls (sounds kind of kinky ).

I have a few EPX T1s, and am worried about them cracking (don't know why ).

I'm thinking of buying a few RAW DOOM, and Track Solution EX (if I can find them).

Would hate to find them cracked in the box.

Wonder it that's still under warrenty through Storm?  Because its undrilled, I would venture to say its a defect in workmanship and/or quality of materials...LOL

Was that in a plastic bag?  I am thinking that (at least here in Arizona) cracking may be partly due to loss of resin due to evaporation.  Could the cover shrink because of loss of resin and then crack because the core does not shrink so the core puts pressure on the shrunken cover?  

I have had drilled balls crack sitting in a locker or in my closet but in all cases they were exposed to air, not in a plastic bag to help seal them in and had not been used in awhile (no exposure to lane oil).

Wasn't in the plastic bag...So that's why the balls come in a plastic bag!
Never thought of that....makes perfect sense!
Resin gets sucked out of the ball in low humidity...coverstock shrinks, and contracts to hard on the core, and splits...sounds feasible.

Keep sunlight away, since UV light attacks the molecule chains in the coverstock material (becomes brittle and might bleach over longer periods).

Additionally, as some others suggested, try to distribute the ball's weight over a wide surface - do not use a simple ring as a stand, rather a "massive" cup which fits the ball's shape, or some soft stuff that adapts to the shape and weight of the ball.

Avoid other plastics, especially soft material, since it might react with the ball's surface (softener leaking out and being sucked up by the ball).
