These balls are a urethane base, and thus will never stop curing completely. The worst thing for a ball, once it has been drilled, is to let it sit idle for long periods at a time. Sometimes you will get lucky, but others you won't. The only 2 that I've ever had crack were stored on a shelf in my office at room temps.
Take them out every so often and throw them for a game or two. This helps keep the cover pliable and less susceptible to cracking.
