Storm Reacta Clean vs. Storm Xtra Clean
« on: March 11, 2012, 11:03:26 AM »
Anyone used both of these?  Wondering which one is better?  The best ball cleaner I have ever used is Ultra Clean by Tenth Frame.  I know this cleaner is not certified for use by the USBC, but it keeps my equipment super clean.  The only problem that I see with using it is that it seems to attack and dull the cover on polished equipment.  Hoping one of these cleaners will do a good job without dulling of the ball.

The quote below is by the original poster, Pozz:

Below is my reply to Pozz:
Unfortunately, this cleaner is not just "not certified" for use, but its use is prohibited completely because its main cleaning ingredient is Acetone. Continued use dissolves the family of plastics which includes polyester, urethane and resin.

I have tried Reacta Clean and it is a  simple water based cleaner. There are much  better ones in my opinion, like Valentino's Remedy.

Also there are much better cleaners than Ultra Clean for deep cleaning balls and removing virtually anything. Some are Brunswick's Hook-It and Powerhouse's Clean and Dull. Heck, even Lanemasters cleaners is better than pure acetone. I compared them both. LM's cleaner got some types of dirt off a ball's cover better than pure acetone.

I have a large bottle of Hook It I purchased off eBay and it's a red gel.  While it does remove belt marks and the sort extremely well it leaves a greasy feel on the ball.  I've been skeptical to use it regularly, fearing I may have been scammed.

Has this been anyone else's experience or am I using cheap hand soap!!!!

I haven't used/tried Hook-It, but Steven is a fan of Hook-It, so you might try checking with him.

I would suggest you got a bad bottle of something but it is not the Hook-It I use. Mine has a red tint, but is watery and not a gel. It sprays on nicely. I have had a small bottle and I got a large bottle a few months ago. The small was the original from Neo-Tac; the new large one is the one marketed by Brunswick with credit to Neo-Tac.

Both leave everything they touch EXTREMELY tacky,  including my hands (used it once on a ball I wasn't going to use the rest of the night and got some on my hands, They were so tacky I wouldn't dare bowl with them until I removed the tackiness with some alcohol.)

I suggest you return that bottle and ask for another. Mine also leaves no residue..

Charlest--With all due respect, because I have seen many of your posts which are very good, a cleaning product

which is "not certified, and seems to dull polished equipment", cannot be the best cleaner available.  I would

suggest that you change your analysis.

I don't understand. Oh, wait. I do.
OK, I edited my original post to clarify. This system, ballreviews.com,offers no way to quote the original poster; so I just put a small part of his statement in quotes to start my response and to which I wanted to reply, just what you are suggesting. I was addressing its illegality and the use of even better cleaners than a currently illegal substance.

My analysis remains the same.

+1.....  Hook-It is not a gel. It never has been.

If you got a gel that leaves a greasy feel on the ball AFTER it dries, there is something wrong. The official product is just what charlest described.
