Golf season can't come soon enough...
« on: January 21, 2009, 11:31:35 AM »
I'm so frustrated with bowling I'm about to use my equipment as lawn ornaments or anchors or something.  I wish I was a scratch bowler too... this crap is getting expensive.  That'll be all for now.

Kidjete, there is only one thing worse than bowling, and that is: NOT bowling.  I got frusrated one season many years back and walked away.  Came back a few years later, and glad I did.  Not competing was the miserable side.

Competing is the only thing that keeps me from not quitting and just getting my sticks in order for golf.  I guess it's tough because I really only have 3 full years of bowling experience and carry a 198 average.  Granted the house we bowl in is tough but I suppose I shouldn't expect much more with the amount of tim eI have put into it.  I have golfed for 20+ years and carry a +3 handicap, not to mention having a lot of success in tournaments, etc. so it's just tough to not be one of the best bowlers... yet.  Normally I'm pissed for a day or two and then start getting excited for Sunday pot games after that lol.  Just need to blow off some steam ya know.

Not to mention that greens fees are darn expensive.  The clincher for me was that during regular weekly play I could win maybe $20 playing golf with three friends cause all I can afford to risk is about $20.  In bowling the same $20 can pay hundreds on a decent night.  Much more bang for the buck with bowling.

It's the opposite for me, again more than likely because of the difference in my skill level in both.  I pay annual fees at the local course and obviously entry fees in tournies.  Last year I paid for my annual fees in one weekend and then some.  I'll still travel around and pay green fees a few times a month but what I end up winning in skins and cashes far outweighs anything I spend on green fees, equipment, etc.  Now if I can get my bowling game together I would be able to make money in the winter too, instead of blowing it lol.
